Inspiring Yourself to Love Your Job

Inspiring Yourself to Love Your Job

I’m on the 21th floor of one of the famous hotel now, enjoying the panoramic view of the whole city. The lights in different colors from different sources: sky-scrapers’ buildings, running cars, and billboards, steady or blinking make my heartbeat pounding with awe. The night sky becomes starry after a little rainfall though I’m in the city but I could see the serenity of it as it canopies its busyness. As my eyes roaming around the beautiful city, I could feel very blessed and so inspired taking a deep breath thanking the Lord Jesus for the many opportunities I have in my life now including the staying at the hotel for free while at the same time being equipped with knowledge related to my job.

As everyone retreated after the opening activities of our training entitled ‘Mass Training of Teachers’. The training will last for seven days. Each has his/her own expertise and each has to be grouped according to their subjects being taught. This training will touch topics on how to develop functional and operational lesson/instructional plan, integrating competencies needed by teachers in the effective implementation of the Senior High School curriculum; outline the strategies, assessment, and classroom management techniques appropriate for the learning competencies; and lastly, to promote a culture of collegial and collaborative learning among the SHS teachers. Now, If these are the things I’ve been looking for and it’s all here, that would be great!

To teach senior high school students in a collegial culture is quite challenging. The students know that what they are learning in their senior high school can be a tool for them to land a job or to pursue their college, however, they still think they are high school students who always think of hanging outs, having fun, and doing their schoolwork, irresponsibly.  You need to find ways to shift their mentality, from who they were and what they are now. Because what they are doing now determines who they will be later. And if unguided, would give them heartaches and regrets. One or two years of doing something in a wrong choice is already a big stride to be experienced for your career and it is a huge waste of time.

And we are here now, for all of us, if not, most of us have that burden for these young minds to be molded according to what they can be. For me, I want them to be what I wanted to be. Dreams which I wasn’t able to reach I want it to be realized in their lives. Thinking about my past, the time had been wasted and the effort and its result which wouldn’t be mended anymore because of poor choice they should not experience in their lives now while it’s not yet late for them. We, as teachers, are their eyes of how the future would be like. They are our then-dreams to be realized now. They are my inspiration to do far beyond my capabilities. And pretty sure we will go back to our respective station fully equipped to convey all these to hungry young minds longing to be fed.

What about you? What or who inspires you to do your job well?
