Relying upon What You Believe May Put You into Trouble

I've just finished my class. It was an exhausting day. It was too hot though it was a cloudy day. We started our duty at 5;30 a.m and it started with a flag ceremony. I woke up at 5 o'clock while our flag ceremony is at 5:30 a.m. I only had 30 minutes preparation, doing all my morning household chores! It couldn't be! I know myself, I know how I manage my time, I know that I couldn't make it to school on or before 5:30. What I know is that my mind was telling me I could but my body says 'No!' Anyway, there's no harm in trying. It's always true. As long as what you try couldn't kill you or make you invalid and the Lord Jesus is not sad, try! And I tried my best to get to school, anyway, my school is just a kilometer away from my house.

Every move I had I checked my watch. And there was a light of sure success that I could make it. And looked, I was done preparing. So, I left home and hurried to school riding on my motorcycle. But while getting nearer to school I saw some my fellow teachers coming out of the gate to cross the street heading to the principal's office. And I thought to myself, "Has the flag ceremony finished or it is going to start?" Then one teacher said, "Sir, did you just come?"

When I heard it I was disappointed because it was a passive way of telling me, "We're finished. You're too late!" I checked my watch and it was still 5:27. I tried to check if what I saw is right. It was really 5:27. I checked it again to realize that my watch is 20 minutes late. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

So, I just logged in and hurried back home to take my breakfast. I didn't eat it to chase my time but still i wasn't able to make it to come to school to join the ceremony. I learn not to rely only on something I knew it's true and heard clearly but I have to check it many times and have to use other resources to confirm it.

Just like when we want to know the will of God. We don't have to rely only on what we heard from a good speaker and believe but to study it by ourselves through the Bible, not relying upon what you believe but upon what God says. It is not to check the Bible if it fits your preferences but to put your preferences into God's will reveals in the Bible. With the help of the Holy Spirit, a searching heart longing to know His laws and obey them, not to be saved but to show his love to God who first loved him and that he is saved by the blood of the Lamb.
